Audience Research

This is the magazine Blender's readers profile. It outlines the statistics of the type of people that read their magazine. The majority of the age of the readers is between 18-34, giving an average of around 25 to 27. Many of Blenders images are quite provocative, which is quite appealing to male readers, yet still very popular women that women readers can aspire to be and look up to. Most readers are graduated and employed making them well educated so the magazine must be targeted to this segment of people.
Billboard did not have a readers profile so i looked at the statistics for smash hits and top of the pops as they are aimed at the type of genre that i am hoping to create for my magazine.

The majority of this pop magazine's readers are female (82% majority) and the age range of the readers is targeted at 11-15 years, giving an average of the readers of both blender and top of the pops is 19, so i will aim my magazine towards late teens and early 20's.

I would like to aim my music magazine at trendies and hipsters, young adults that are really in with contemporary art, music scene. This would fit my target audience and also the aims i am trying to achieve from my magazine. I want women to be my main target audience, yet still appealing to men as well.

Following mu audience feedback I will include the following forms and conventions in order to appeal to my target audence:

I found that the two magazines were more targeted more towards women, due to the images, sell lines and colours. This will influence my decisions in colours and sell lines.

I found that the first thing everyone noticed were the images. I want to make my images bold and the main thing on the page.

The interviews highlighted the lack of information on the DPS of billboard so I will make sure there is more information.

I will always make sure that my sell lines are interesting and that the house style will continue to the next page.
